Over the past decade, Bushwick has become a center for New York’s creatives. Musicians and artists have created a network of informal performance venues, known as the DIY scene. But now, the neighborhood is changing again. Rents are rising, and venues are under pressure to close down. Mayor de Blasio created the Office of Nightlife in September last year, but many are asking — is the city doing enough for these cultural spaces? Colin Marston has the story.
