NYCHA Unable to Keep the Heat on for Residents


Residents of New York City public housing have been in crisis this winter. Their heat is often off, and many have had to rely on space heaters and even ovens to keep their apartments warm. The city’s Housing Authority, known as NYCHA, has blamed the problem on old boilers and insufficient federal funding. But another problem recently came to light: a serious shortage of workers to maintain the boilers.
