New Report Says Airbnb Contributing to Racial Gentrification in Harlem


New York City is host to about 60 million tourists each year. And instead of staying in hotels, many of them prefer short-term rentals in private homes. Airbnb is the largest company that facilitates private home rentals, and they are thriving. But a new report argues that Airbnb is contributing to gentrification and racial income inequality in some parts of the city. Wendy Rhodes has the story.
