Decades ago, Italians came to New York City in droves. According to the most recent census 15% of the population in the Tri-State area has some Italian heritage.
Now a stagnant economic situation back home is pushing Italians to immigrate again.
But today’s Italian immigrants are different – they are better off and more educated than their Nineteenth century counterparts. And, as reporter Bianca Giacobone finds, that means a divide between Americans with Italian heritage and those who’ve just arrived from Italy.
