Investigators of the failed car bombing in Times
Square are looking for a money courier they say helped funnel cash
from overseas. Investigators have the name of the courier they believe helped Faisal Shahzad pay for the SUV, explosive materials,rifle and various other expenses over the past three months, while Shahzad had no apparent source of income. He was a "lone wolf" who was inspired by militants in Pakistan but didn't have direct contact with them, according to Gen. David Petraeus. Shahzad told investigators he did go to a terrorist training camp in Pakistan but they have yet to confirm that.
The weight-loss company Nutrisystem has dropped former New York Giants football star Lawrence Taylor as a spokesman. Taylor was charged with third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute, charges his lawyer has denied. Rasheed Davis, who allegedly set Taylor up with the young girl, was charged with sex trafficking of a child.
The Food and Drug Administration has confirmed that it has focused on a specific farm responsible for the E Coli lettuce contaminationthat made it's way to New York. Federal investigators are looking at a farm in Yuma, Arizona as the possible source. Freshway Foods of Sidney, Ohio, said it recalled lettuce sold in 23 states and the District of Columbia because of a possible link to the bacteria. The New York state Public Health Laboratory discovered the contamination in a bag of Freshway Foods shredded romaine lettuce on Wednesday.
The Whitney Museum of American Art has received a major gift of more than 350 works of art from a longtime benefactor. The 367 pieces include works by Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, and Andy Warhol. The museum said it plans to exhibit the works in early2011.
A federal judge has sentenced one of New York's biggest cigarette dealers to 10 years in prison in a case involving the flow of hundreds of millions of dollars of untaxed tobacco from the state's Indian reservations. He could have been released on time served, but a U.S. District Judge gave him the maximum.
